June 24th: Sacrifices to the Elk, Protester Assaulted

It's that time again–at the Justice Center, gonna live-tweet

Very small crowd so far, just hanging out. Someone burned a flag in front of the stag. No cops in sight#DefendPDX #PortlandProtests #PortlandProtest #RoseCityJustice #blacklivesmatter #sacredfence #pdxprotests

A black femme gets on the megaphone by the fence. The crowd gathers. It begins. Everyone in the park, no one in the street so far

We chant the names in the street

Monday they immediately told us to clear the street. Today, nothing. It is arbitrary, and it could change any moment

Once you accept that your actions have no effect on the presence or absence of police violence, it all gets much easier

I have seen camera evidence that the officer in the window above is a mannequin

And now quiet

— Laura Jedeed is Kind of Back I Guess (@LauraJedeed) June 25, 2020

The ancient argument begins anew: "Don't leave the justice center!"

Part of it is boredom. Part of it, perhaps, that we've been trained to leave around this time

I dont love it. We are so small tonight, we should not split up AT ALL

Stakes feel pretty low tonight tho

Back to the JC!!

— Laura Jedeed is Kind of Back I Guess (@LauraJedeed) June 25, 2020

A lot of smoke, flashing lights. We move towards it

— Laura Jedeed is Kind of Back I Guess (@LauraJedeed) June 25, 2020

At the back of the JC. I would like to state for the record that in no way is anyone impeding efforts to put our the fire that I can see

— Laura Jedeed is Kind of Back I Guess (@LauraJedeed) June 25, 2020

People have scaled the sacred fence and are decorating the boards over the justice center windows. You love to see it

A huge fight just broke out. A van was frustrated that protesters were in the street. They ran into some of the debris in the road and I guess it fucked up their car. The driver and two pasengers jumped out and and attacked the protesters. Punched several people in the face

— Laura Jedeed is Kind of Back I Guess (@LauraJedeed) June 25, 2020

The protest has scattered–not enough of us to form a group at this point

I'm gonna call it a night. Solidarity to everyone still out here
